Woodley Park, only a short Metro ride from the Mall and downtown, is a bucolic residential neighborhood with the feel of a small turn-of-the-century New England town. With its rolling hills, winding streets, and rambling frame houses, Woodley Park still looks much as it did when it was designed as an upscale streetcar suburb in the late 19th century. The streetcar suburb is now just a pleasant jaunt away from downtown, but far enough removed to maintain its quiet and verdant character, loaded with cafes, parks, and gardens. Woodley Park is ideally experienced by strolling along its well-preserved streets, with an eclectic mix of 19th and early 20th century architecture, all within easy reach of the varied restaurants and shopping on Connecticut Avenue, easily accessible via Metro. The neighborhood is bounded on the north by Woodley and Klingle Roads, on the east by the National Zoo and Rock Creek Park, on the south by Calvert St., and to the west by 34th St. and Cleveland Ave.
