Kalorama, Greek for "beautiful view," is undoubtedly one of Washington's best addresses. At the foot of Embassy Row, the neighborhood is the center of the Washington party circuit, with its park-like setting that plays home to beautiful single-family houses, row houses, and condos. Surrounded by Rock Creek Park, Dupont Circle, and the palatial embassies of Massachusetts Ave., Kalorama is the preferred home of ambassadors and politicians, with much of its architecture in the Victorian and Art Deco styles. The Taft Bridge, which funnels Connecticut Avenue out of Kalorama is a piece of art in itself, with imposing lion sculptures providing a pleasant walk over Rock Creek Park on the way to the National Zoo. Dupont Circle nightlife and downtown are all an easy walk away. Metro access at the Dupont Circle station puts the entire city within easy reach. On the north and west, the neighborhood is bounded by Rock Creek Park. Massachussetts Ave. forms Kalorama's southwest boundry, and 22nd St. NW and Connecticut Ave form the neighborhood's southern and eastern boundries, repectively.
